Paisley's Adoption Process - Step 1
Adopting from Paisley's Bunny Rescue & Sanctuary means becoming part of a movement that gives once forgotten bunnies a second chance.
PLEASE READ THE IMPORTANT INFORMATION BELOW BEFORE PROCEEDING:
We’re so happy you’re here and considering opening your heart and home to a rescue bunny. Before submitting your application, please take a moment to review this important information so that the adoption process goes smoothly for everyone — especially the bunnies.
Adoption Fee
Our adoption fee is $222 per bunny.
This helps us recover just a small portion of what goes into their care — including spay/neuter surgeries, daily food, bedding, vet visits, and health checks.
Most of our rescues cost $500 or more each to fully rehabilitate, so every adoption helps us continue saving lives and giving other rabbits the chance they deserve.
Reservation Policy / Meet The Bunnies
While we feature some adoptables here and on Petfinder, we currently care for over 250 bunnies at our main location.
To visit, please submit your adoption application first. After approval, we’ll contact you by text or email to schedule an appointment.
If you see a bunny online or on Petfinder that you absolutely fall in love with, you may reserve them with a $25 nonrefundable deposit, which will go toward your final adoption fee.
This deposit holds your chosen bunny until your appointment.
If you do not show up and no communication is made at least 24 hours in advance, the deposit will be forfeited.
We know life happens — but no-shows take valuable time away from other rescue work and cause real stress for the bunnies waiting and prepped to go home.
Housing Requirements
To ensure a happy and healthy life for your new friend, we have strict housing standards:
- Outdoor hutches or enclosed indoor cages where a bunny cannot leave are not allowed.
- Bunnies must have a playpen or space at least 4ft x 6ft (larger is always better!) with daily free-roam time, or be fully free-roam indoors.
- We strongly advise against housing rabbits with prey-driven pets, such as hunting dogs or animals with a strong chase instinct.
Our goal is to make sure your bunny feels safe, social, and part of your family — not confined.
Before You Buy Supplies
Please review our Required Items before purchasing food, cages, or supplies.
Many items marketed for rabbits in pet stores are actually unsafe or toxic — from treats with sugar and seeds to dangerous cage flooring and litter types.
Our list will help you choose only the best products for your new companion and avoid costly mistakes.
Veterinary Care Requirement
All adopters must have or be in the process of establishing care with a veterinarian who sees rabbits — preferably an exotic vet, as rabbits are very sensitive animals and require specialized knowledge.
We also recommend reading our Rabbit Care & Emergancy Guide which covers common health issues and warning signs to watch for.
You can always refer back to it later if you notice anything unusual with your bunny’s health.
*WE ASK THAT YOU ALSO CONTACT US ASAP ALONG WITH YOUR VET WITH ANY MEDICAL CONCERNS.
Transport & Carriers
For your bunny’s safety, we require that all adopters have a hard-shell carrier for transport.
Soft carriers are not suitable, as rabbits can chew through them quickly.
A sturdy carrier will be essential for vet visits, travel, and bringing your bunny home safely.
